Our work

We arrived in Slovakia in September 2006, as a result of a desire to help a church planting drive that was being planned. We based ourselves in a city called Nové Zámky. The church in this city was preparing to plant two further churches in neighbouring cities. We assisted to pastor this church, and bring stability, while it was placing much of its effort and resources into starting the new works.

Our ministry included looking after the homeless, designing discipleship programmes, ministering to children and youth, leading worship, and raising up new leaders. We also ministered and helped to organise large events in the region and elsewhere in the country. Our ministerial responsibilities also took us outside of the borders of Slovakia and we helped to design and deliver a 2 year course for emerging leaders in Slovenia.

The passion for church planting continued to grow and, at the end of 2007, God gave us the vision to start a church in another neighbouring city called Šaľa. Šaľa is a town of around 25,000 people, in an area of of 50,000 people, that doesn't have an established evangelical church. While we had helped in other church plants, we were now being called to lead this one.

We distinctly felt the mandate to start with the children and young people and then to reach the whole city through them. This has determined how we have ministered in the town. We have run several childrens clubs and have worked in the schools with an organisation called ACET. ACET is an organisation that does presentations in schools about issues such as sex, aids and relationships but from a Christian perspective. This has led to after schools clubs, discipleship courses and then eventually to the start of regular church meetings. If you would like to see how the church is progressing then please take a look at our news section for regular updates.
