  • Christmas Newsletter

Christmas 2011 newsletter.jpgThe Christmas newsletter is now out.... The last few months have been full of activity but thankfully also full of blessings. We are now looking forward to Christmas. For us it is a time of great happiness, but also a time when we often miss our family and friends a little more than usual. We are grateful for everyone of you and truly do pray that you will have a wonderful Christmas and new year. Thank you for all of your love and support.

  • The Vikings have invaded...

Viking Invasion.jpg November began with an invasion of students from a Danish Bible college... From the very beginning our church has always placed a high priority on the work that we do with children and young people. Several members of our church are teenagers who have come in through the work we have been doing in the schools. It has been great to see some of these young people mature and take up responsibilities within the church.

  • Signs for all to see...

church banner.jpg We were so excited this past week to finally put our church name on our building... We have been meeting in our current location for the last three months, and just last week we had the joy of seeing the church's name actually go up on the side of the building for all to see.

  • September Newsletter...

September 2011 Newsletter.jpgThe September newsletter is now out.... As I write this is it almost exactly 5 years since we first came out here. The last five years have been an incredible adventure. It has been a very difficult journey at times but one in which we have grown, got to know ourselves, each other, and our God better than when we first came. We are grateful for what we have learnt over the last five years.

  • Taking Ground...

New Building.JPG We were please to have our first meetings in our new building last month... We have been running meetings and events in Šaľa for almost three years now. We have used several different venues in that time. Since we have been doing regular church meetings, which is just over a year now, we have been meeting in a room rented for the towns Centre of Free Time. The room has been good to start in and we were very grateful for it.

  • Investing into the future...

Domi Preaching.JPG Last week, Dominika Ovariova (Domi) preached at our weekly youth meeting... She spoke openly and powerfully about how God had helped her through many difficult situations in her own life. At the end of the meeting, Janka, who has been coming since our outreach in January, decided to follow Jesus.

  • Our May 2011 newsletter is now out...

May 2011 Newsletter.jpg Our May newsletter is now ready for you to download... Spring has well and truly arrived here in Slovakia and we are delighted to be able to share with you a little of what God has been doing in our lives since Christmas. We hope that you enjoy reading it and knowing that it is your support and prayers that enable us to do everything we do here. We are very grateful to you as our partners on this journey.

    God Bless,

  • Encouraging youth work...

Wayne Simmonds 2011.JPG We have been encouraged lately with growth of our youth work... We had lost several of our teenagers following the summer break where we had struggled to find a suitable location to run the youth meetings. This had been quite discouraging at the time, even though we were grateful for those that we still had with us. However, we have seen several of them return as well as a number of new faces. This has been a real encouragement to us all.

  • Back into the schools...

Noro Acet Presentations.JPG Last week we were back giving presentations into the schools in Šaľa... We were invited to give presentations to the students of one school on the subject of drugs. Noro, who works with the organisation ACET in Nové Zámky, joined me talked about his experience of drugs. He had been addicted to several hard drugs which have led him into a life of homelessness, prison, crime, drug dealing and prostitution. The students were fascinated to hear his story.

  • Turbulencia 2011

Turbulencia.jpg Last month we held our annual regional youth conference called Turbulencia. It is a conference that Mark helps to organise and is always a blessing to our local churches. This year the theme was, 'The Holy Spirit, your partner for the journey.' Mark hosted a two hour seminar in the afternoon where he interviewed a number of the local youth leaders about what is going on in the region.
